Frome fire service thank you to all who helped at Welshmill accident on Sunday night

Frome fire service has put out a special thank you to brave passers by who helped following an accident at Welshmill on Sunday night.

At just after 6pm on Sunday October 10 the crews were called out to the accident at the bridge not far from the retirement home.

In an open letter on social media firefighter Neil Burge, along with four colleagues who were first at the scene posted : " I would like to commend all passers by who assisted with the injured persons prior to our arrival and during the incident whilst waiting for our colleagues from Warminster and Trowbridge to assist along with the multiple ambulance crews and the helicopter crew until it's conclusion.

"It was a challenging incident for all concerned, and we couldn't have done it without each of you. "

The air ambulance carried the injured to hospital - Frome Nub News has contacted the police for an update on their condition and details on the accident and is waiting for a response.

He added : " An inspiration to the community to Lesley and others, apologies for not getting everyone's name. Many thanks and well done.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service."
