Frome photographer launches new photo-books

Frome based freelance photographer Mark Brookes has published three new photo books in time for his pop-up gallery in Stony Street. Mark who returned to professional photography after a break of almost twenty years is showing a selection of his work during July at the Fromie Gifts premises.

The pop-up was delayed from its original April date due to the pandemic so getting out and putting the mini-exhibition just as the town begins to return to a strange form of normal has been a challenge. Setting up his own publishing business 'See Through Publishing' and working with Frome based company Postscript on the design Mark is already working on a new collaborations with poet B.Anne Adriaens and a series of models and artists. In the meantime the three new titles published are ......

FROME - is yet another quirky collection of Mark's local work ranging from classic views to local characters. This book follows on themes from Mark's popular Frome Calendar and local postcards.

SKIN & MASK - brings together a collection of images from Mark's more recent studio work including work with musicians, models, poet B.Anne Adriaens and masks created by textile artist Gladys Paulus.

REBELS - takes Mark back to his documentary photography routes covering protests and festivals. Mark spent 2018 / 2019 as a photographer with Extinction Rebellion during protests in London and in his hometown of Frome.

Mark's pop-up gallery also features a range of prints and cards and is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10-4 during July.
