Frome Town ladies player Nieve Edwards has been honoured as the player of the year by Somerset County FA.

She received the award on October 6 at the training session at Frome College.

Nieve, who is 25, won the Lester Clements Trophy which she was given by Somerset FA's DSO Shirley Needham. She has come up through the ranks and has been playing football since joining the Under 12s.

The team told Nub News : "Nievie Edwards along with several of of squad players, were selected to play for Somerset FA.

"Nievie is just one of many who has come up through our junior section, to play for our 1st team. We are hoping that she is just one of many more players to play for Frome or to represent Somerset FA through this path.

"Especially as we are now have a dedicated path with as we work very closely with Frome Town United to find the next Nievie Edwards."
