Persimmon put in an application for the former Cuprinol site

Planning applications in and around Frome this week.

Plans put into Mendip include:

An application in for the former Cuprinol site in Frome. Persimmon Homes Ltd want to build a 25 home residential development on land at 378206 147347 on Adderwell Road in Frome. That application is under Ref. No: 2021/0050/FUL. The site in question is formally described a 'Valuable Employment Site' under the Frome Neighbourhood Plan. The Cuprinol site was closed in 2001, with the work being moved to other ICI Paints sites around the UK.

Outline planning permission is being sought for the building of up 49 homes in Rode. The development, which will involve the change of use of agricultural land to public open space, community allotments and orchards, is for land on Church Lane in Rode. It is open for comments under Ref. No: 2021/0071/OTS.

Under reference No: 2021/0121/FUL the homeowners have put in an application to convert their garage at Grove House Marston Mead in Frome, into a new single dwelling.

In Mells an application has been put in to build a new rear extension following the demolition of single storey rear extension and summerhouse at Glebe Cottage at Longfield. Details under reference No: 2021/0111/HSE .

And close to Kilmersdon, but still within the Mendip planning jurisdiction, the owners of Tumblers Bottom have put in an application to fell a mature Alder tree at the property. Details under Ref. No: 2021/0121/FUL

Meantime the group which is opposing the current plans for the Saxonvale development in Frome plans on lodging their alternative plan for the central town site. Mayday Saxonvale has plans drawn up by Andrew Kirby and hopes to get their application into Mendip's Planning Department this week.

Their alternative, they claim : " Provides a viable and community-focussed alternative to Acorn's sub-optimal and profit-driven application and is a plan for those who believe in financial transparency, proper, democratic consultation and maximum respect for local planning policies rather than minimal. "

This week, it has been announced that Acorn's scheme is being brought forward to full Planning Board on 28th January.
