The campaign groups in Frome opposing proposals to build on a green space close to their homes have called on a delay to the end date for consultations, currently set for the end of this week.

Meantime the residents of Farley Close, a cul de sac close to Hayesdown First School, have put out a video appealing for it not to be used to build housing.

They are also asking the general public to contact them if they have ever lived at Farley Close and have any photos taken on the green. They can be contacted on email [email protected]

There are now at least three active groups campaigning against proposals from the Fair Homes Project which is a partnership between Selwood Housing, Frome Area Community Land Trust and Mendip District Council.

The campaigners from The Mount have asked for an extension to the date when residents can put forward their views on the proposals, which is currently set at June 11. The details are HERE: the Selwood Housing site for Farley Close

The campaigners from the Mount told Nub News that while they are completely supportive of any project that aims to address the needs for social housing in Frome, they are sad to see the green spaces being considered for this project. Adding : " The Mount is an area of town with lots of income families and residents already in social housing and the green spaces were designed to break up the terraced houses.. "

The Fair Homes project reports that around 500 households are currently seeking a social home in the town.

Up to 30 homes could be delivered across eight sites in Frome, with one, Tower View already withdrawn.

The other proposed sites are:

Farley Close,

Feltham Drive & Austin Close,

Grovemead,

Hodders,

Land at Cranmore View and the Grove,

Mountfield,

Randolph Road,

and Selwood Crescent.
