The village of Mells just outside Frome now has a welcome stretch of verge totally rubbish free, thanks to the work of three dedicated litter pickers.

It took the trio an hour to collect an impressive three bags of rubbish and four bags of recyclables to leave this stretch at the entrance to the village looking transformed.

Somerset's district councils have welcomed the launch of a public consultation on the Stronger Somerset plan to deliver better jobs, affordable homes, stronger communities and a carbon zero county.

Local Government Secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP launched the consultation on the evening of Monday 22 February. The consultation period will run for 8 weeks until Monday 19 April.

Outdoor venues are scheduled to open for groups of up to six people from 12 April.

In case you missed it Frome favourite Not Just Pets is on the move.

They are relocating from Irongates on King Street and moving to the light and wide space on Bath Street next door to The Market Cross café.

Following the government's roadmap announcement that outdoor cinemas can re-open from 17th May, outdoor cinema will be coming to Frome Cricket Club in September.

Adventure Cinema will be showing films at some of over 80 spaces across the UK - including the town's cricket field.

There are two new but familiar faces on the team at Active and In Touch, Frome's charity that helps combat loneliness and isolation.

Active and In Touch is delighted to welcome Tracey Rawlins as its Community Fundraiser. Although newly in post, Tracey is already well known in Frome and the surrounding area, having moved here seven years ago along with husband John and children Grace and Jude.

Somerset District Nursing Service provides nursing care to people who are housebound living in their own homes and in residential homes. They are working with Healthwatch Somerset to gather feedback from local people who have used the District Nursing Service in the past sixth months, including patients, family members and carers.

Healthwatch Somerset Manager Hannah Gray said: "District Nursing is a long established and vital way to care for people in their homes and in the community, and developing community services is an important part of Somerset's future plans for transforming the NHS.

End of life charity Marie Curie is calling on residents of Somerset to support its flagship fundraising campaign, the Great Daffodil Appeal – which is reaching its 35th anniversary next month – and has, for the first time, had to cancel all of their iconic public collections for the campaign.
