Somerset's district councils have welcomed the launch of a public consultation on the Stronger Somerset plan to deliver better jobs, affordable homes, stronger communities and a carbon zero county.

Local Government Secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP launched the consultation on the evening of Monday 22 February. The consultation period will run for 8 weeks until Monday 19 April.

Active and In Touch is delighted to welcome Tracey Rawlins as its Community Fundraiser. Although newly in post, Tracey is already well known in Frome and the surrounding area, having moved here seven years ago along with husband John and children Grace and Jude.

Somerset District Nursing Service provides nursing care to people who are housebound living in their own homes and in residential homes. They are working with Healthwatch Somerset to gather feedback from local people who have used the District Nursing Service in the past sixth months, including patients, family members and carers.

Healthwatch Somerset Manager Hannah Gray said: "District Nursing is a long established and vital way to care for people in their homes and in the community, and developing community services is an important part of Somerset's future plans for transforming the NHS.

The actor Allison Steadman is a Marie Curie Ambassador as the charity helped her mum

End of life charity Marie Curie is calling on residents of Somerset to support its flagship fundraising campaign, the Great Daffodil Appeal – which is reaching its 35th anniversary next month – and has, for the first time, had to cancel all of their iconic public collections for the campaign.

After an extremely difficult 12 months, the charity is facing a potential loss of over £3 million due to the cancelled public collections but has a variety of creative ways that people in Somerset can support the campaign this year including donning their trainers and 'stepping up for Marie Curie' by walking 10,000 steps every day throughout March.
