Community compost - just one fabulous Frome initiative

1 of a series of w/shops supporting enterprises that help build a resilient, sustainable, local economy.

Reusing materials, upcycling items and reselling products is the alternative to "seeing waste as waste" - it provides an opportunity to create new enterprises, green jobs and an impactful, practical way to address the climate crisis on a local level.

This workshop is for individuals and groups who want to create or grow a reuse or circular economy business - initiatives and enterprises that reduce or repurpose waste, as a key cornerstone of a sustainable economy in Frome. For example, this could include enterprises that reuse wood, old furniture, clothing, plastics, bikes, food, consumer items e.g. It doesn't matter what stage you're at - whether you're starting with an idea or are already in the thick of it – every participant will leave with tangible next steps for their reuse business, and meet other people who are engaged in this locally.

The workshop is also for people who want to play a role in future Reuse projects in Frome to help secure a greener, healthier Frome. It is also an opportunity to discuss and share your vision or ideas for a thriving "reuse economy" and the team of Future Shed Frome will be there to host an ideas sharing session at the end of the training.

The workshop combines the expertise from people who have made it work, people who have experience of incubating start-ups, and from yourself. Everyone makes the day, and as participants, you will be invited to contribute your own experiences and ideas. Bring your ideas or challenges if you want to get some input or feedback from the group.

The day is run by Edventure Frome and Loop Frome, with support from Frome Town Council, Somerset County Council, and Somerset Skills and Learning.

Contributors:

Peter Macfadyen: Author of Flatpack democracy, founding member of Independents for Frome and co-founder of Frome Community Compost CIC - Loop Frome.

Future Shed will also host a discussion on what the gaps & opportunities are for building a more circular community. Attendees can also benefit from 1-to-1 following coaching and advice.
