The Frome Police team say that they have received information that social gatherings are being planned for this weekend in some of Frome's rural areas.

In response they have warned people not to gather in groups and that any parties WILL be broken up.

In a social media post the local PCSO wrote: " We strongly advise that all who are intending to gather in groups must comply with the social distancing measures announced by the government.

"Gatherings of more than two people, with the exemptions of household groups are now being dispersed by police. "

The current rules are :

Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home).

Stay more than 2 metres apart from other people.

Wash your hands as soon as you get home.

Earlier this week the Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Police, Andy Marsh urged the public to stay at home and said: " I am asking you again, please adhere to the Prime Minister's message and make sure our officers' time is not unnecessarily taken up enforcing measures we all know we must follow. Help us, to help you. Stay at home, save lives."
