Badcox was taped off today (July 25) after a young local man was stabbed in the early hours.

The police helicopter was in the air and police on the scene within minutes of the incident, which happened just before midnight.

The stabbing happened close to the local shops in Badcox, which earlier in the evening had been described by an eye witness as busy with party goers.

Early reports suggested the victim was from Bath but later social media named one of the victims as a 22 year old who was a former pupil at Frome College. *

An eyewitness had said that two young lads suffered stab wounds, but the latest police update says there was only one victim.

An eyewitness who came across the scene and helped save the young man who had suffered " multiple stab wounds." She held one of the wounds closed and kept pressure on it until the ambulance crew arrived.

Police have given a statement and said they will increase patrols in the town.Their statement:

"An investigation is underway following a serious assault in Frome overnight.

A man in his 20s received a number of stab wounds during an incident in Vallis Way at about 11.45pm on Friday 24 July.

The suspects had left the scene prior to police arrival.

Extra patrols will also take place. "
