Avanti Park School in Frome were thrilled to have marked the Queen's Platinum Jubilee by planting an ornamental Cherry tree. This beautiful tree takes a place of pride by their wooden adventure play area of their lovely grounds and will provide shade on those sunnier days! The tree was kindly donated by their wonderful PTFA who were lucky to have purchased the tree at a reduced price from Barter's Nursery in Chapmanslade.

The tree planting was an auspicious occasion which was witnessed by some of the VIPs of the school! This included members of their busy PTFA, their Principal Mrs Abby Atkins, members of the Senior Leadership Team and not forgetting their extremely important School Council!

Avanti Park are proud to be honouring the pledge as set out by the Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) which is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites everyone across the UK to 'Plant a Tree for the Jubilee'. This, in fact, ties in very well with Avanti Park's outward approach to all matters 'green' and their ethos and values around sustainability.

The QGC are encouraging the planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen's leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations. One of the children wholeheartedly agreed, 'It is such an amazing idea, as trees and plants are really important, basically, we would not be here. It is better than getting a special toy or mug to remember this special occasion!'

We all agree, this is a truly wonderful QGC initiative, Avanti Park will have this tree for all to see - for many years to come!
