Bake Off Star Feels Right at Home at New Frome Development

When Great British Bake Off 2012 finalist Brendan Lynch decided to downsize ten months ago, he was anticipating buying a well-maintained older property.
That was until research into housebuilder Wain Homes and a visit to the Keyford on the Green development in Frome changed his way of thinking.
Brendan explains: "Even though I was planning to downsize, I still wanted a good-sized garden to maintain my passion for gardening and obviously a spacious and quality kitchen for baking.
"I also wanted a traditionally built, stylish home that will still look good in 100 years, not a modular property with low kerb appeal.
"As soon as I visited Keyford on the Green, my expectations of new build homes were seriously challenged, and I saw well built homes that will easily stand the test of time in terms of build quality and good design.
"Having been impressed from reading reviews from other Wain Homes customers and having more confidence buying from an independent housebuilder rather than a large PLC, I asked the sales adviser, Jodie, which property had the biggest garden, and she directed me to the three-bedroom, three-bathroom Whitebeam. Straight away, I knew I could make this property my new home. The kitchen is well planned and equipped and the garden will feature nice fruit trees and climbers."
Brendan already knew the area, having lived in Frome for the past 12 years, and wanted to stay close to the town centre, feeling he wasn't yet ready for quiet village life. Keyford on the Green's location, less than a mile from the heart of the bustling town centre is the perfect location for making the most of the vibrant markets, eateries and community services.
He is also enjoying watching the new development being established. "It is going to be a lovely development when it is finished" he explained. "I like the aspect of homes onto the street, the streets themselves are wide, there's lots of space incorporated into the planning and there are wonderful views of the Mendips countryside. I can tell the designers really thought about what a new community needs and how streets and homes should be designed to maximise quality of life."
Brendan still makes regular visits to the Wain Homes sales centre at Keyford on the Green, usually armed with a selection of his scrumptious cakes, to share with the sales and site teams.
"Jodie was fantastic throughout the whole process, always listening carefully, not trying to sell but understanding what I wanted and keeping me well informed" he said. "She has even been really helpful with choosing the colours and the floors, making it an enjoyable experience. The site teams have also been great, giving me regular build stage updates, and it's interesting to see how many of them appear when I walk in with a tray of bakes!"
Those bakes made Brendan a favourite to win Bake Off 2012 having honed his skills through years of practising recipes from the likes of Raymond Blanc and the Roux brothers. Baking was Brendan's way of winding down after long days as the operations director of a large PLC, and latterly as MD of his own business consultancy. He is proud of his impact on the show which saw audiences grow from an initial 3.8million to a record breaking 10.7million for the final episode.
Once fully settled into life at Keyford on the Green, Brendan is planning to continue with his passion for baking. "My dream is to teach baking and help people to build on their skills. I'm also hoping to offer sessions in retirement homes and other settings where people can benefit from the great therapeutic effects of home baking."
Keyford on the Green on Little Keyford Lane features a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes and properties currently available range from £295,000 to £535,000. For more information, visit https://www.wainhomes.co.uk/find-your-home/south-west/somerset/keyford-on-the-green/
