A special Christmas message from the Mayor of Frome
At Nub News we believe in keeping it local, so we approached the local mayor for a special message for residents for Christmas.
The Mayor of Frome gave us his thoughts on the town and why he is so proud of it and the people who live there.
"Frome is packed to the rafters with historic buildings, beautiful independent shops and creative people, and is a wonderfully vibrant and eventful town which I am proud to be Mayor of. From topping the list of the best places to live, to one of the most mispronounced names, we always say that Frome is "Made differently" and we try to follow through with this with the everyday activity carried out by Frome Town Council staff and Councillors.
Whether this is from empowering the community and providing the tools to take ownership of specific areas through grants, community projects and development or helping, through our events, to get Frome placed firmly on the map.As with most towns, we face our own challenges but through the hard work on, for example, economic regeneration and supporting the local business community, we are helping to secure and boost employment within the town.
From our award winning Community Fridge project, taking ownership of our parks and open spaces, our infamous Independent Market and impressive 10 day Frome Festival, just to mention a few, we cover a whole host of activity to try and ensure we are inclusive for all our residents and businesses within Frome and visitors from further afield."
