Another one gone.

The signs outside the now-closed HSBC bank in Frome were taken down early this morning (June 11)

The branch closed up on Tuesday June 6, with the bank saying accounts will now be managed from Trowbridge. HSBC is shutting a total of 114 banks in 2023.

According to the cash-machine network Link, 242 bank closures are scheduled for 2023 but some have already happened, and in another report the rate of closures across the UK is around 60 every month.

The Natwest in town, closed on May 11 and the building has now reportedly been taken over by squatters. Frome's Barclays bank will close on Wednesday 23 August this year, one of a total of 132 branches it is closing this year.

Yet more bank branch closures were announced this part week by Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds which has published a list of all branches it has currently 'under review'
