Are you ready for Frome Apple Day?
Frome's Apple Day festivities are gearing up for a day full of talks, food, drink and apple-themed fun and games.
The family-friendly event takes place at the Old Showfield on Sunday October 20 from 10am to 3pm and will see tours of the town's orchard, apple pressing and crafts, face painting and outdoor gym sessions.
Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington said: "We had great feedback from last year's event and are excited to be making this year's Apple Day even bigger and better for the community.
"From the interesting to the educational, to the silly and light-hearted there really is something for everyone."
For the first time Frome Town Council is launching a free Talks Tent for the whole community to enjoy.
Judy Duffus from the WI and Frome Country Market will kick off the varied talks with a session on Preserves and Honey at 10am, followed by Pavla Kiselova at 11am who will talk about all things foraging before leading the audience on an interactive foraging walk.
At noon, Jonathan Powell from the National Beekeping Trust will be explaining his Spanish and UK re-wilding projects which aim to encourage honeybees back into their natural home – tree cavities.
Then Cordelia Rowlatt from Vallis Veg will look at what the global economy has to do with your local market garden at 1pm. And finally, at 2pm, Dan Lupton will finish the day with a talk on Birds.
There will be a selection of refreshments for sale from the Crumpeteers offering warm drinks and hot buttered treats, to Matt Smith Catering with his luxury hot chocolate, hot apple crumble and homemade mini toffee apples.
