Frome Medical Practice is offering support for specific conditions in two groups that will take place from September. Patients with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or conditions relating to leg ulcers and lymphoedema are invited to come along to group sessions for advice and support.
The Frome and Area COPD monthly support group will take place on Thursday 14th September from 10.30am to 12.00pm in the Education Room at Frome Medical Practice and will run on the second Thursday of every month thereafter. COPD is a collection of lung diseases, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema, and patients with COPD are welcome to come along to share their personal experience and knowledge of managing their condition. Guest speakers will also attend the group, covering topics such as financial assistance, other support available, physical activity and the kind of therapies that can help with this group of conditions.
The Frome Leg Group is also taking place on a monthly basis, from Wednesday 13th September from 10am to 12.30pm. This group will meet every second Wednesday of the month, again in the Education Room at Frome Medical Practice. The Leg Group is for people with leg ulcers or who are recovering from leg ulcers and for patients with lymphoedema. The group is an opportunity to connect with others and make new friends, whilst also getting to hear from guest speakers who will share information on all aspects of leg health, including hosiery, nutrition, movement and self care.
Both the groups are free to attend and there's no need to book to come along. Just turn up at any time during the hours the groups are taking place. If you want to know more about either group please ring the Health Connections Frome team, who can answer any queries, on 01373 468368 (choose option 1.)
