Frome has topped an on-line poll as the best place to live in Somerset, beating Wells into second place.

Frome came top of the poll for the best eight places to live, on the lifestyle site Muddy Stilettoes. Somerton , which shares an MP with Frome, was placed at number three, while Wedmore came in at number eight.

On the site Frome was described as follows: "The community-minded town's packed with arty, artisan indy businesses and cafes, and hosts the best street market in the West. "

For the section, Best Kept Secret: " There are about 400 listed buildings in Frome and a clutch of famous residents in the locale including Kevin McCloud and Carlos Agosta."
