One of the local area's longest running family businesses re sets the stage for a new chapter in its history.

Bath Theatrical Costume Hire, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, provides costumes and fancy attire for TV and film productions, seasonal events, theatre performances and private parties.

Managing Director, Rusette Auton, said:

"What a year it's been?! The pandemic has challenged us all to think about how we live our lives and the way in which we interact with others.

We have adapted the way we do business and have introduced new products such as our new photo studio, Studio 2. This has opened up opportunities and consequently we have recruited new skills."

Difficulties recruiting since the beginning of the year prompted a press release promoting apprenticeship opportunities which was kindly printed by local media.

"This brought knocks on the door and as a consequence we have been lucky enough to find some great candidates," she continued.

"We have always had a culture of offering opportunities to young people, whether it be through work experience or part time work." said Rusette. "I'm pleased to say we have been able to do the same now, taking on two new apprentices and offering work experience through the government Kickstart programme.

Bath Theatrical is like no other business, where else could you get the range of experience, supported by a team with years of expertise?" added Rusette.

"Currently we are promoting costumed portraits and making a new set of costumes for the musical Shrek while dressing people for Halloween and other parties. Even after being in business for 52 years, no two days are ever the same!"

Specialists in fancy dress costumes, theatre productions and period weddings, Bath Theatrical Costume Hire started as a small enterprise, located above a hairdresser on the London Road in Bath. Now it's based in Frome with a stock of over 30,000 costumes.

Bath Theatrical has been busy recently with their Regency Pop-Up Shop for the Jane Austen Festival at the Francis Hotel in Bath. Plus, they've co-organised the Jane Austen International Film Festival – which has kept them rushed off their feet!

Bath Theatrical Costume Hire is back open by appointment only at Unit 8, Wallbridge Industrial Estate, Frome, BA11 5 JZ.
