Campaign against current Frome Saxonvale plans move up another gear : Five steps to stop it

By Susie Watkins 3rd Aug 2020

Campaigners against the current proposals for the Saxonvale site in Frome have created a new community initiative to push with their own ideas for the site.

Saxonvale is the last remaining urban central site in Mendip, but plans for its redevelopment are mired in controversy.

As of today (August 3) over one hundred Frome residents have signed up to create a social enterprise under the banner Mayday Saxonvale - offering an alternative to the plans put forward by developer Acorn.

Campaigners point out : " It might feel that nothing can be done to change the current plan but that's not true. We have to act and halt this development, to think again and not accept the loss of our only opportunity to safeguard our central district commercial, retail and social value priorities."

Last week the local civic society lent its opposition to the current plans, explaining what it rejects as something it sees not in keeping with the town. You can read that HERE:
