Catherine Hill but NOT Cheap Street finds a place of best places to visit on Somerset Day

11 May is Somerset Day and for the sixth year in a row residents of the county are being encouraged to fly the flag for all things Zumerset.

However, although Frome is key to the formation of Somerset, it seems a bit overlooked as everyone is urged to get out and explore the best the county has to offer.

Somerset Day is even named for a Frome event. It was the date given when the men of arms gathered at Egbert's Stone near Selwood, just outside Frome to move then to fight a decisive victory, possibly over the border in Wiltshire, in Edington, over Guthrum's Danish army. But on a special Somerset Day interactive map only three places of interest make it, well interesting.

One is Catherine Hill, another a local jeweller and the third it is marked because Somerset Farmers Markets come to town
