Bath Cats and Dogs Home's Frome charity shop will be opening its doors for the first time next week - but only for the community to drop off their pre-loved and unwanted items.

The special donation days are being held at the Stony Street store in preparation for it reopening for sales on Monday, 15 June.

They are being held on Thursday (11 June), Friday (12 June) and Saturday (13 June) from 10am to 4pm and on Sunday (14 June) from 11am to 3pm.

The shop will have measures in place controlling the number of people going into the shop and ensure that those handing in items adhere to the two metre social distancing guidance.

A spokesman from the charity told Frome Nub News: "There will be standard distancing, using floor stickers to help, only a few people allowed in the shop at a time and a screen at the till."

Signage will be in place to advise people of the safety measures.

Pre-loved clothes, accessories, hard homewares, bric-a-brac, books, hard toys, puzzles, games and DVDs are all welcome on the donation days.

The shop will not currently be accepting cuddly toys or soft home furnishings such as blankets or cushions.

All donated items will have a quarantine period before they are sorted to be sold and clothes will also be steamed.

The charity shop - which raises vital funds for Bath Cats and Dogs Home - will reopen for sales on Monday, 15 June, in line with Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement last week that all non-essential retailers could start back from that date.
