Charlie Bigham takes stage in the world’s first plate spinning championship

To celebrate those who keep the plates spinning when life gets busy, Charlie Bigham's has launched the world's first plate-spinning championship at Wells Food Festival in Somerset.

Recent research from Charlie Bigham's shows that consumers expect to eat out less often this Autumn amongst one of the busiest times of year, as consumers juggle everyday life and start to think about Christmas.

Charlie Bigham's recognises how busy life can get and has recently introduced sides to its range to offer a total meal solution for those evenings when consumers want a restaurant quality dish in the comfort of your own home. There are 60+ dishes in the range, so a huge number of meal combinations can be created at home when you want a night off from cooking.

Recognising the juggle of everyday multitasking, Charlie Bigham's called on all those expert plate spinners at home to come and try their hand at the actual art of 'real' plate spinning at Wells Food Festival. The championship consisted of a series of demonstrations, workshops and prizes to be won by the best performers - with the chance of winning a year's worth of Charlie Bigham's meals! The sessions accounted for all ages and abilities, starting with sessions for young children and older kids, moving all the way up to adult novices and professionals, so there was something for everyone.

Charlie Bigham's has sponsored the Wells Food Festival for the fourth year in a row - supporting the local community and lending a hand with restaurant-quality at-home meals. Charlie Bigham's donated the left over at-home meals from Wells Food Festival to Help for Homeless, a charity which feeds approximately 150 people a week, in Bristol, Bath, Yeovil and Taunton.

About Charlie Bigham's

Inspired by his travels and love of cooking, Charlie Bigham set up shop back in 1996 with the sole aim of creating really delicious dishes for foodies – putting in all the care and attention that you would if you were to cook them yourself. Using top quality ingredients, his goal was to help people steal back some quality time by doing all the dinner prep for them.

Charlie Bigham's portfolio of dishes now has over 60 delicious meals, made and sold exclusively in the UK. In 2020 Charlie Bigham's launched a dessert range and most recently in 2023, launched a sides range including six new side dishes - a first for the brand.

For the fourth year running, Charlie Bigham's is the headline sponsor of Wells Food Festival providing a day of free foodie adventures for the whole family, whilst celebrating Somerset's rich farming and culinary heritage.
