In spite of 13 objections, the planning application to build 17 new houses and four flats on land at Cherry Grove in Frome has been allowed.
Mendip planners passed the application with conditions this week. One of the objections to the development stated: " No provision has been (made) for playground facilities. The increase in number of properties in the road with very reduced gardens will result in children having to play in the road or around parking spaces. Not all children spend all their time on computer games." But planners, after a total of 29 consultations, have given the development the go-ahead.The application, made by Aster communities will include making parking spaces, access and landscaping work.
Explaining the decision planners wrote: "The proposed redevelopment and intensification of an existing residential site is within the settlement limits of Frome and therefore accords with the Council's settlement strategy for the location of new development.
The proposal, by reason of its design, scale and layout, would have an acceptable impact onthe character and appearance of the area. It would safeguard the amenities of future and
existing neighbouring residents and adjoining land users."
