Local cancer charity We Hear You (WHY) is inviting the community to join them at their Christmas events, raising funds for their specialist counselling and emotional support services for children and adults affected by cancer and life-threatening conditions. Fundraising and Communications Manager Gemma Wilkes said: 

"Christmas is always a busy time at WHY and this year is no exception. We hope you'll enjoy some festive fun with us and help us raise funds to support our incredibly important services. Whether you keep fit at the Santa Dash, bring a little one to meet Santa at our grotto or enjoy a delicious Cordero brunch, you're also helping people facing difficult times and we're so grateful for your support. Don't forget you can also support us by buying our beautiful Christmas cards, with new designs by local artists Rachel Dahl and Jake Galley - either on our website or from our friends at Hunting Raven Books."

Santa's grotto at Light the Night - Friday 24th November

Santa and his elf will be listening to Christmas wishes and dispensing gifts from 4.30 to 7.30 from a grotto at the WHY office, 14-15 North Parade on Friday 24th November, during Frome Light the Night lantern parade. The grotto costs £3 per child and booking is recommended, but walk ups are accepted subject to availability. Book for the WHY grotto.

Frome Santa Dash - Sunday 10th December

This popular Christmas event is back in 2023 for the sixth year in a row, including virtual incarnations in 2020 and 2021. The 4k fun run around the Old Showfield, with Santa suit provided, is family friendly, wheelchair accessible and hosted in partnership with Frome Running Club and Frome Cricket Club (all proceeds to WHY). Tickets cost £10 for adults and £6 for children aged five and over, including a Santa suit to run in and a medal. Booking recommended; walk ups accepted subject to availability. Breakfast with Santa - Sunday 10th and Sunday 17th December

Cordero Lounge and Heidelberg Materials UK (via Whatley quarry) are sponsoring two 'Breakfast with Santa' events on Sunday 10th and Sunday 17th December. Guests will enjoy a meat. veggie or vegan brunch with hot and cold drinks, then have storytime and a chance for children to meet Father Christmas and take home a gift. Book Breakfast with Santa.
