Citizens Advice Mendip has confirmed on the Frome Town Council web site that they have now closed their office in King Street.

They said that increasing costs and the state of repair of the premises (photographed here on September 1) made it no longer economically viable.

CEO of Citizens Advice Mendip Ian Byworth is quoted on the FTC web site as saying: "Of course, for many of our clients who know where to find us and for our staff and volunteers who have worked there over the years, it is a sad day. But, as funding becomes ever tighter, the increasing costs of staying put in King Street were no longer sustainable.

"We are already able to offer advice by freephone, through our website and by email. In addition, we are working with partner agencies to open up advice access points in Frome. This will increase the number of places where you can get advice from us and also provide the option of a face-to-face appointment, if needed."

Their website www.citizensadvicemendip.org.uk has details on how to contact them or you can call their free Somerset Adviceline on 0808 27 87 842 , open week days only from 10 am until 4pm.
