The police community support officers were out today (September 15) checking speeds outside a local school.

PCSO Day and PSCO Pile linked up with members of the community speed watch conducting speed checks at the school this morning.

Over the summer Somerset Council announced that a total of 19 schools across the county will have new speed limits outside their grounds by the end of the summer.

Somerset County Council promised that all schools in the county would have advisory 20mph speed limits in force outside them by 2022.

The council committed £1.5M to delivering the first half of these limits in the next year, with the second half being delivered from February 2021.

Those schools listed did not included the school in Berkley but included:

- St John's Church of England VA First School, Frome

- St Lawrence's Church of England Primary School, Westbury-sub-Mendip

- Stoke St Gregory Church of England Primary School, Stoke St Gregory
