Booster vaccinations opened today for walk-ins for over 50s, but the closest available to Frome is 16 miles away.

That is at the Motor Museum in Sparkford.

It comes as Frome Medical Practice once again advised patients that it will NOT be offering boosters for the over 50s.

You can read the latest details on what vaccines they are offering, and advisories on where they say you are possibly able to book a booster if you are over 50, with one location mentioned in Westbury.

Those details HERE: the Frome Nub News site

About 30 million people who had their second vaccination more than six months ago will be able to get a booster without needing to make an appointment.

NHS England has reported that more than six million people have already had a booster jab or a third dose.

Meantime the coronavirus testing site at North Parade in Frome, was when Nub News visited, not sure when it was returning. We visited last week at 3pm and the service was already packing up. Apologies to any readers who had gone to the car park hoping for a test.

Mendip has been hit by high coronavirus positive figures in recent weeks. You can check the latest figures by putting in your postcode HERE: the Gov UK site

Today (November 1) many local schools including Frome College which has over 1,200 pupils, will restart after half term.
