UPDATES : Police start investigation after car burnt out following early morning Frome collision

An early morning road traffic accident today (May 18) in Frome has led officers to put out a release saying the resulting fire may have been deliberate.

Firefighters from Frome were mobilised to multiple reports of a vehicle on fire in St John's Road at just after 4 am.

On arrival, crew confirmed that two vehicles were well alight believe to be following a road traffic collision. Those driving one the vehicles, which is understood to have crashed into another car, are believed to have fled.

The owner of the other vehicle, who was thankfully safely inside his home, knew nothing about the crash until he was woken by the police.

Crews used compressed air foam and water to extinguish the fire, which caused significant damage to both vehicles.

The cause of the fire was deemed deliberate and police were at the scene to investigate.

The owner of the vehicle on St John's Road has been in touch with Nub News to say that his car was between one vehicle which was in the traffic accident.
