Disappointing to say the least - that's the reaction from bus campaigners to the news that the valued bus into Bath, the D2 IS being cut from next month.

The D2 timetable from the 9th of October means

- Final journey from Bath towards Frome Monday to Friday is 19:10.

- Final journey towards Bath from Frome Monday to Friday is 17.55.

- First arrival into Bath from Sainsburys and Frome Town centre arrives into Bath at 07:43.

- Early morning trips primarily used by key workers and carers and those working at Bath hospitals such as St Martins removed.

- More journeys via Rode, including on Sundays.

Campaigners who posted the news, FAVBUG added : " We have been battling hard for the D2 to be saved, working closely with Somerset Bus Partnership to fight these cuts. Frome, as the fourth largest town in the county, now faces basically little evening services and limited Sunday services, which were always busy. The surrounding villages, which in my experience I would say caters for a third of the evening trips, will have no alternative.

"The train has been viewed as an alternative by many, while in reality, Frome station is in an awkward location, expensive and doesn't serve the villages in any form. Taxi firms have been closing down recently in Frome (and the ones left don't run very late at night or early in the morning), and Frome trains are poorly served in comparison to other towns of a similar size.

These changes are difficult to hear and difficult to work around. We are still hoping to find some solutions working with Somerset County Council."
