Somerset Highways have congratulated road workers in Frome , announcing that the prep work on Welshmill Lane in the town expected to be completed today.

The resurfacing prep works have been underway this week causing a lot of frustration for motorists already contending with the closure of the Market Place.

They were due to finish on 31 July but are now expected to be completed later today (July 17).

In a Tweet the communication team has said: " Our #HighwaysHeroes have been working hard to get the prep works completed early so the road can be reopened. Flexed biceps."

The work has been carried out by Somerset County Council alongside Skanska UK.
