He has shown some cracking new skills in re-purposing his business to help out the local community.
With that the last egg pun, this is the story of how Frome's newest community hero, now rebranded as the Egg Man helps out hundreds of people in the community - and how his gorgeous daughter Hollie has learn some valuable home school lessons in how to be an entrepreneur.
Twenty nine year old Matthew Snelgrove, who has two small children and is engaged to be married, started his garden and maintenance business @MP Snelgrove last year but like so many, when coronavirus came along, the business took a big hit.
With the business slow, and him unable to serve his mainly elderly customer base, who are in lock down, he was thinking of how to carry on.
He said: " It made me feel very worried if I was to go to their property and carry out work that I may pass it on without knowing or catch it and bring it back to my family. Also where I have trade accounts those businesses are also shut, so I can not get any materials or get rid of any waste at the recycling facilities either.... so I have not been doing much except from staying at home with the family lately and feeling useless."
Then his light bulb moment.
As he explained: " I have friends that own a fair few chickens and I always have their eggs, as they are so tasty and many are double yolkers (get double your money's worth). I also pick them up for my regular customers too when I go to there houses to carry out regular weekly maintenance."
With a Frome town-wide shortage of eggs a lot of people were struggling to get supplies, so Matt set up a small stall at his house and watched as they flew (sorry another pun) off the shelves.
Matt said : " We have a lot of elderly that live on the estate and a lot of foot traffic that pass and it's been non stop ever since."
It is a true family affair, he usually takes his daughter Hollie to collect the eggs and she helped building the stand and for home schooling - nothing like learning about buying and selling. She's been extremely excited putting out the eggs and restocking once the trays are empty and telling everyone about her tasty eggs. That will be a lesson in marketing Hollie .
You can find out if he has stocks on his social media page or via the Frome page by searching Free Range Eggs.
Matt said: "People have been very honest with the money and I've had great comments about how tasty the eggs are and lots of double yolkers."
But the family giving to the community doesn't stop there, his mum is making face masks, headbands and bags for nurses and his sister is a career in the community.
"We're just trying to help all we can as a family, like most other people are doing too... the community spirit is fantastic at the minute and I hope it continues after this mayhem.
He added: " So I now feel I'm making my little contribution to the community by supplying these tasty eggs."
