The children in Key Stage 2 at Vallis First School had a fantastic day recently learning about life in Ancient Egypt. Their day started with looking at replicas of the Rosetta stone, cat statues and papyrus hieroglyphs. The children were fascinated to learn about the work and discoveries of archaeologists and Egyptologists.

The children were challenged to ask questions like an archaeologist as they dug for artefacts in sand. The Egyptian bread they made using flour, water, salt and dates was delicious. The children chose colours to paint scarab beetles, These were believed to be symbols of good luck . Dressing up as an Ancient Egyptian was great fun too!
