The submission deadline for the Active and In Touch exhibition Portrayal of a Pandemic closes on Friday 4th June.

There are already some wonderful submissions in many forms including sculpture, textiles, photography, mixed media, poetry and painting. Artists are invited to send their artwork which needs to portray the Pandemic in some way. It may show loneliness and isolation or a positive experience over the last year, perhaps a discovery of nature or time with family.

The exhibition will be at Black Swan Arts from 3rd - 12th September.

Artwork will be selected by an illustrious panel of judges who will choose some of the best entries to go forward to the Active and In Touch calendar which will be available in September.

The panel are as follows:

Wells based artist Edgar Phillips. Edgar Phillips is a British designer and glass artist. He creates installations, sculptures and stained glass windows. For the past five years, Edgar has been the first artist-in-residence at The Bishop's Palace, Wells and where he will soon undertake a series of public and community led workshops.

Laura New is an artist and illustrator from London but is now living and working in Wiltshire. She works primarily in pen and ink on both two and three dimensional paper structures. Her work is based around character and narrative creation, reminiscent of children's book illustrations and fairytales.

Frome photographer Chris Bailey. Chris is well known in Frome for his stunning photography that includes local landscapes. He is a respected portrait photographer and provides headshots for many stars of stage and screen.

David Chandler is an artist, art tutor, writer and broadcaster based in Frome. He runs regular painting and drawing courses locally and on-line and lectures and demonstrates throughout the UK and Europe. He is a Black Swan Open Art Competition winner and a Holburne Portrait Prize finalist. He is co-founder of Frome Community Education CIC, was a regular contributor to Paint & Draw magazine and is the writer and presenter of Seeing Things, a community radio programme about the visual arts.

Frome based textile artist Gladys Paulus uses the ancient technique of felt making to create work which hints at a loss of a sense of sacredness in this world. Her work straddles the worlds of fine arts and crafts, managing to find a space entirely of its own, and pushing the boundaries of the medium of felt in doing so. Gladys is a visiting tutor at many specialist textile venues and is an exhibiting member of the 62 Group of textile artists and is on the Crafts Councils Selected Index of Makers.

Somerset based poet and author Moira Andrew. Moira has 94 books with her name on the cover, ranging from children's reading books and anthologies to books for teachers and full-length poetry collections – and one novel, aimed at teenagers. She is currently concentrating on poetry for adults. She runs a flourishing poetry workshop.

Tina Gaisford-Waller is the manager of Winstone's Hunting Raven Books in Frome. She has always worked within the arts, first as an actor and then in children's publishing before taking on her dream job as manager of her home town's long-standing indie bookshop. She is a lover of all forms of artistic expression.

There is no charge to enter. Please submit artwork by emailing through a jpeg photograph by Friday 4th June. There are three age categories: Under 12's, Under 18's and Adults. For full details visit www.activeandintouch.org
