In addition to three times the usual workload with distributing food to the vulnerable, Fair Frome is helping promote a sign that shows other you might need extra space or time, particularly during lockdown.
It is the hidden disabilities scheme, with people who might not be obviously needing extra help wearing a sunflower lanyard.
It was started before the coronavirus pandemic, but is particularly necessary now, as many of those 'hidden' disabilities are particularly hard to deal with in terms of social distancing.
One of the co-ordinators of Fair Frome Lenka Grimes explained:" We are a member of the sunflower hidden disabilities scheme, and we bought some lanyards which shows someone has got a hidden disability, so if you see that then just please give them some extra care.
" They are recognised at airports and supermarkets. And so if anyone would like one we do have some available so if you can contact us we can deliver them to your doorstep. Just personal message us through Facebook or email us."
Those who might find particular use for the lanyard, might be those with autism, or ADHD - adults or children - who are, under current government guidelines allowed out twice a day.
Karen Stewart Vice chair of Trustees for Fair Frome said: " The restrictions on going out are even more difficult with those with additional needs, be those adults or children. Having to queue, things like that, can be a real trigger point for lots of people. Distancing is a real problem. "Supermarkets will recognise it and hopefully you can go to the front. Or if you are out doing your daily exercise, you are permitted to go out twice a day, for example. It is even more difficult for people to stay at home, if they have additional needs." Volunteer Radek Evans, who wears a lanyard said: " Before this I was at Bristol airport and they recognised the sunflower. The message is getting out to supermarkets but we would like more people to know and see it." In terms of the Foodbank Karen said: " It is very busy, but we are keeping up with it, we have an incredible group of volunteers who have stepped up, because obviously some of our volunteers have had to stay home because they are vulnerable or are elderly. We have have had really wonderful people step forward and we have people out delivering as well. "You can find out more about the sunflower scheme here: https://hiddendisabilitiesstore.com
