The sun shone and numerous groups were out in Frome on Sunday 27th February.

Eight streets were taken on and tided after suggestions from residents on the Frome Hoedown FB page.

We trimmed and tidied Masons Way by the Sainsbury's roundabout, Shane Collins said 'Thanks Annie Moore for the heads up, Masons Way is now a bit wider and the street sign visible'.

Donna Holt and kids took on Gentle Street and said " We had a beautiful morning, met lots of people and received lots of thank you's'.

A group from Frome Families of the Future hoed the St Johns Church steps, saying ' Lovely morning in the sunshine, nice to meet new people, and the kids got surprisingly into it too, lots of people walking by thanking us for our efforts - Frome is such a great community, all the biodegradable waste we scooped up (4 bags) off to the composting at the tip too so this is definitely the environmentally friendly way to keep our streets clear'.

Antony Houghton and daughter did their bit widening the pavements on the Mount.

Damla Luttrell and crew took on Manor Furlong and the Recycling Centre, Dalma said 'We picked up a full tonne bag of rubbish, a car battery, and loads of pruned and hoed down greenery made a massive difference today at Frome Recycling Centre. It was too much for our duo Shane Collins and me so definitely will go back to finish it off.'

Steve Creffield revitalised the area by Berkley and Bath Rd and said 'We discovered the Berkley Road steps!! Last Sunday and this… in time to promote Frome Kindness Festival! Great to work with Karen, Kunchok Nyima and Shane Collins on this. And thanks to Aliss for some of the plants and hearts! Also to all the lovely people of Frome who stopped to talk, encourage and share their appreciation'.

Mike Grenville and a team of four finished off the path by Wallbridge and said 'Pavement and cycle lane wide enough for both now towards Tuckers Close'.

Kunchok Nyima, from Tibet who knows a thing or two about community, widened the pavement on Southfeilds and said 'Feeling really good when you do something nice for your community. If you haven't been tried yet then next time you can join us have a wonderful sunny day on the last Sunday of the month'.

Cllr Shane Collins, one of the Frome Hoedown organisers said 'Huge respect and thanks to the numerous groups who came out and tidied up 8 streets in town, I think we all got a nice warm feeling for having done something tangible and getting lots of lovely comments and chats with passers by.

Frome Hoedown works in support of Mendip and Frome Councils Climate and Ecological Emergency polices. No Roundup has been sprayed in Frome for about 18 months now. Insects and fish love Frome Hoedown !'

We will be out next on the 27th, the last Sunday of March meeting 11am. If you would like help in your street just ask on the Frome Hoedown FB page.
