Fire has completed destroyed a property at Trudoxhill, in spite of four fire crews battling to save it.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public last night reporting that his property was involved in fire.

Three fire appliances from Frome and Shepton Mallet were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.

On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that three container type buildings converted into a domestic dwelling were fully involved in fire along with a car and a tractor, and therefore requested the attendance of a further appliance from Shepton Mallet.

Crews quickly got to work to begin tackling the fire using breathing apparatus and attack jets. One male was reported to have been suffering with smoke inhalation and burns to the hands, so ambulance were requested, while in the meantime crews administered first aid to the casualty.

A water carrier was requested to assist with transporting large volumes of water to the incident, along with an incident support unit, both from Yeovil.

The fire caused approximately 100% damage to the buildings and contents and significant damage to nearby vehicles.

The victim is receiving support and guidance from British Red Cross.
