Fire in Castle Street in Frome: Arson suspected

There has been a fire in Castle Street in Frome in the early hours of today (September 30).

The police say that they believe the car involved was set alight deliberately and a nearby property also sustained damage.

One fire appliance from Frome was sent to multiple reports of a car on fire, which was well alight at 4 am this morning when the crew arrived. A further appliance was requested for assistance and sent from Frome also.

One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the blaze. The car was completely destroyed and damaged two adjacent vehicles due to the heat. A nearby property also sustained damage from the heat of the fire. Police attended due to the nature of the incident, which was deemed as being started deliberately.
