Firefighters were yesterday (August 19) called to a vehicle fire near Howell, Hill Frome.

Crews from Frome and Shepton Mallet were called to the incident where a car was ablaze in the middle of a field.

The road had to be closed while emergency services attended the scene. It has since reopened.

"Upon their attendance, crews could not find any signs of fire at the location, but did see smoke in the distance to which they proceeded to investigate," a fire service statement said.

"They then discovered a vehicle in a field which was well alight."
