Flats could be created above former Frome NatWest

Two flats could be created above the former NatWest Bank in Frome, if plans are signed off by Somerset Council.

An application to see whether prior approval for the works is necessary has been submitted to the council, and could see the office space above the bank repurposed.

If the plans get the green light, the ground floor would be retained as a commercial unit, but the staff kitchen and toilets above would be lost.

A separate planning application is also expected to be submitted for remodelling works at the grade II listed building on the corner of Cork Street.

The proposal involves the change of use of the first floor of the building to two residential flats (each two bed)," the application explained. 

"The ground floor of the building (including the basement level) would be retained in Use Class E."

The property has been vacant since May 2023 when NatWest closed its Frome branch.
