As the situation in Ukraine becomes ever more desperate, plane spotters across Frome have been following some interesting air trails including overhead the route of an American bomber.

That appears across Frome every morning - at least for the past few days - and today (March 2) it was given a particularly chilling name.

Fear 31 was a B52 American bomber tracked across the skies of Frome at just after 10am.

It is a US Air Force (USAF) Boeing B-52H Stratofortress which is a long -range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber. The B-52 was designed and built by Boeing, which has continued to provide support and upgrades and has in operation by the United States Air Force since the 1950s.

The Flight Radar system tracks plane movements across the world, both commercial and military flights, although those are often without any specifics of what is actually airborne.

Yesterday the American President Joe Biden told Congress that Vladimir Putin badly misjudged how the West would hit back once he invaded Ukraine.
