Mendip has just released the latest monthly numbers for fly tipping across the district.

They recorded a total of 191 fly tipping incidents.

One hundred and seventy one were on highways, and 20 on council land. There were no deposits on footpaths or bridleways during May.

This is actually down on April's figures when there were a total of 234 incidents of fly tipping , 219 highway and 15 on council land.

Mendip District Council says it has a robust enforcement process in place. If anyone spots dumped rubbish or litter they can report it here:

the Mendip street clearn siteor call 0300 303 8588.

The communications team also reminded Nub News that the Council does not clear dumped rubbish or litter from private land, this is the responsibility of the landowner/tenant.
