Former mayor and initiator of Independents for Frome, Peter Macfadyn, will be spreading his message of doing local politics differently to Devon next month.

He will be giving a talk called Getting Things Done in Local Politics - How to Say Yes Not No in Honiton on October 16.

The activist, councillor, grandfather and green undertaker will be talking from 7pm to 9pm in the Beehive Hayward Room.

Peter said: "Where I live, in Frome, the coalition of independents has spent eight years encouraging sustainable transport, assisting local charities, and helping to ease poverty and inequality."

He founded Sustainable Frome and is a director of Frome's Renewable Energy Co-op. Through these he better understood local government, leading to his role in initiating Independents for Frome, who earlier this year won all 17 seats on Frome Town Council.

Peter has chaired key committees and served as both mayor and leader of the council.
