The Frome restaurant Home, which took on the premises left by the Fat Radish in April last year, has been forced to close due to rising costs. The owners said they had used up all of their own money to try and keep the business afloat, but said they couldn't carry on.
The news o the closure from this Sunday, was greeted with great sadness by their loyal and well-established customer base and the owners who say they are very very sad to be going.
Nub News, who profiled the business when it opened, visited to say how sorry we were that they were closing up and to hear how this weekend's Acoustic Cafe on Sunday afternoon will be a final goodbye. (That is on January 15 1pm - 5pm).
They told us that right now they are still shocked about having to shut up, but that they still have plans to feed their customers.
"After the dust settles and we've licked our wounds for a few days, we'll be back at our old kitchen at Keyford Court doing our old thing of event catering and takeaways and deliveries of everything form a shepherd's pie to a Date with a Funghi grazing board to an afternoon tea. We'll be running a special Burn's Night Box for you haggis lovers!"
Their social media post:
We are devastated to let you know that as of Sunday 15th January, Home will be no more. We are really sorry that we are having to close, but the pressures on the economy combined with energy costs and high rent bills, neither of which we can reduce, means that there is no way we can continue as a going concern. Obviously we are in the same boat as many other small businesses, but we've used up every penny of our personal reserves and banks don't play with companies that need money at the moment. We hope to see you in another of our guises soon. Love Home
