Golf, football, rugby, tennis.... outdoor sports are back from today.

In a reminder of the coronavirus changes which came into force today (March 29) :

  • You will be able to meet outdoors in either groups of six from any number of households, or in a group of any size from up to two households, which can include existing support bubbles.

  • You will be able to take part in formally organised outdoor sports with any number of people - outdoor sports venues and facilities will be able to reopen.

  • Childcare and supervised activities will be allowed outdoors for all children.

  • Formally organised parent and child groups will be able to take place outdoors for up to 15 attendees.

Meantime, the exceptional rule for weddings has been lifted, so you can get married with six people allowed to attend - that includes the couple themselves.

On 12 April (at the earliest): Up to 15 people will be allowed to attend a wedding ceremony and reception, but ceremonies can only take place in places of worship, public buildings and in locations that are already permitted to open, with outdoor receptions only.

On 17 May (at the earliest), the numbers increase to up to 30 .

In terms of shopping, the extended daily opening hours for non-essential retail will continue, confirmed the Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick.

He said this will allow people greater flexibility to avoid peak times and easing transport pressures.

When they reopen from 12 April at the earliest, shops will have the flexibility to open until 10pm Monday to Saturday.
