An appeal for childrens' shoes in Frome has resulted in a collection of more than 300 pairs which will be sent to the migrant camps in Greece.

The collection was organised by Refugee Action In Somerset East) - RAISE - the refugee charity.

They put out an appeal for shoes, especially waterproof and warm childrens' shoes ready for the unaccompanied young people in the refugee camps in Greece.

A spokesperson said: " So this winter, there will be hundreds of children whose lives will be made warmer. We are overwhelmed with gratitude."

The registered charity Hope and Aid Direct will take the donated shoes out in the camps this coming autumn, so the charity may plan another shoe collection towards the end of the summer.
