A Frome-based artist has had one of her works selected to appear in the UK's most prestigious portrait sculpture exhibition.
They Walk Among Us (pictured), one of a series of reliefs that Liv O'Hanlon has recently produced, will appear in the 60th annual exhibition of the Society of Portrait Sculptors. FACE, running in London from April 15-28, is the only forum for contemporary portrait sculpture in this country. Her piece was one of more than 300 submitted from the UK and worldwide.
Ms O'Hanlon is now concentrating on sculpture after a career in national newspaper journalism and campaigning in the voluntary sector, during which she was appointed to various parliamentary and governmental groups on adoption and fostering. She moved to Frome 20 years ago with her family, where she set up the herbal skincare businesses Great Elm Physick Garden and Little Herbs.
Liv said, "I'm beyond thrilled and excited - and frankly can't quite believe that such an exalted society would want to show my work! I have only been sculpting full time since giving up making potions, so this is a tremendous accolade.'
She is a member of the Bath Artists' Studio and several of her other works have appeared in its exhibitions.
