The new B&NQ arriving at the station approach in Frome will be opening early NEXT year, Frome Nub News has just been told.

The store, an express version of the DIY chain, is in the former Jewson building adjacent to the station.

In recent weeks they have been advertising for staff for the store.

A spokesperson said: " We are delighted that our new B&Q Frome store will be opening and will create up to 25 new jobs in the area."

B&Q operates as a subsidiary of Kingfisher, which also owns Screwfix. Founded in 1969 by Richard Block and David Quayle, the retailer was bought first by Woolworths in the early 1980s, before the group was sold to Kingfisher.

The Frome store is expected to be an express version - one of the smaller stores for an urban market which have been developed since 2017.

In its most recent financial report Kingfisher chief executive Thierry Garnier said he was positive the DIY giant would thrive despite posting a dip in sales.

The DIY and hardware multinational recorded a slight drop in like-for-like sales in the third quarter so far, down 0.6% in the seven weeks to September 18, against 2020.
