They have become synonymous with Frome, and were seen on the beach in Cornwall protesting at the meeting of the G7 in June, now they have been spotted in London.

The local Extinction Rebellion birds are in the capital, part of a mass protest to draw attention to the climate emergency.

So far (August 27) more than 200 people have been arrested at Extinction Rebellion demonstrations in London over the past four days.

The XR demonstrators from the South West were photographed on Westminster Bridge seemingly ahead of planned protests there next week. The Extinction Rebellion leaders have said they will be at the Houses of Common to protest at links between big finance, fossil fuels and what they have said to the BBC is: " The fossil of politics that is Westminster".

Prior to their first appearance in Cornwall, XR Frome said they hoped the powerful image of a band of ten blackbirds will send a message that we must make the necessary changes, not just for humans but for the good of all life on earth.
