The Frome Carnival raised around £3,515 pounds, which is down on last year, but with some gifts still to be collected organisers are hoping this amount will increase. However it is still not clear whether this is enough for the future of the event to be secured for 2024.

Frome Nub News certainly hopes so.

Even as two big carts were forced off the route, other new groups stepped up to take their place.

And there were some new faces in the carnival, including Ukrainians in Frome taking part for the first time. The Carnival raises money for local charities including Active and in Touch, and the Frome Birth Centre.

The crowds were noticeably smaller than in previous years, a bit sparse along The Butts and not so many in the actual Market Place , but it was still a great occasion.

The Street Carnival has said on social media that it will do its best to make sure it does return in 2024.

They also thanked the 60 volunteer Marshals, collectors, judges, program sellers, a private medical team of first aiders, cycle responders and ambulances, Wessex 4x4 Response, recovery services, the South Western Ambulance Service, the police, and the invaluable support of Frome Fire Station.

Frome Carnival is unique amongst Somerset's carnivals, in that it is the only one which is a registered charity
