Frome College has updated its coronavirus guidance, and closed the PE changing rooms to try and halt a spread in the school.
The Principal has written to all parents saying that hygiene measures are being stepped up around the college, and PE lessons will continue, but pupils will not be allowed to change on site.
She wrote : " As we are witnessing more positive cases of Covid-19 amongst our community, we are being steered by Public Health England (Somerset) on measures to be implemented in college.
"We continue to wipe down desks and encourage frequent hand washing and sanitising. Students are welcome to bring their own hand sanitiser to college and should follow a routine of LFD testing every three to five days. Test sets are readily available in student services and reception.
" Meanwhile, we have taken the decision to close the PE changing rooms and allow students to come into college in PE uniform on the days that it is on their timetables. Otherwise, students are to remain in full college uniform. We will review this decision at the end of this term."
For those students who are self-isolating or who have tested positive, parents must contact the Attendance Team ([email protected]) with details of start and end dates of absence from college and work will be set on line.
Meantime Somerset SAINT (School Aged Immunisation Nursing Team) will be coming to Frome College to administer Flu and COVID vaccinations on the 29th and 30th September to students in Years 9, 10 and 11.
