The Principal of Frome College has responded to the announcement made today (January 27) by the Prime Minister confirming that schools will not re-open until March- - at the earliest.

In a statement to the House of Commons Boris Johnson said: "It will not be possible" to reopen schools in England after February half-term, but hopes it could happen from 8 March.

In her response Emma Reynolds of Frome College told Nub News : " 'It is really important for schools to go back as soon as possible but this return needs to be safe, secure and sustainable.

"No parent, student nor teacher wants nor needs the uncertainty of a suggested date of return which later cannot be fulfilled. Decisions about our children's education need to be well considered, clear and easily understood by everyone. Suggestions don't help anyone at this time."

Boris Johnson told the commons that he plans to set out a gradual and phased approach in the week beginning 22 February.
